Boiler Feedwater Project for a Thermal Power Group in Anhui

I. Basic Parameters

  • Product Water Use: Boiler feedwater

  • System Recovery Rate: ≥75%

  • Treatment Capacity: 9,500 m³/d

  • Number of Membrane Elements: 492 elements in 3 trains

II. Process Flow

Raw water (river water) sequentially passes through the following treatment units:

  1.   High-Density Sedimentation Tank: Initial precipitation and flocculation to remove large particulate impurities.

  2. Sand Filter: Further filtration of suspended solids to improve water clarity.

  3. Multi-Media Filter: Depth filtration to remove fine particles, organic matter, etc.

  4. Ultrafiltration (UF): Retention of colloids, bacteria, etc., providing pretreatment security for subsequent reverse osmosis.

  5. Reverse Osmosis (RO): The core desalination unit, producing qualified feedwater. The RO concentrate is split into two streams:

    • One stream: Softened RO permeate is reused (Recycling)

    • One stream: Concentrate is discharged (Compliant discharge)

IV. Operational Summary

     In this boiler feedwater project, systems with different membrane element configurations demonstrated consistent performance under similar feedwater temperature and raw water conductivity (603 µS/cm). Product water conductivity was maintained between 7.06 - 8.2 µS/cm, with a stable salt rejection rate of 98.5% - 98.6%, meeting boiler feedwater quality requirements.

   The system achieves a recovery rate of ≥75%, with minimal fluctuation in operational parameters, indicating high process and equipment reliability capable of long-term, stable production of qualified water. Furthermore, the reuse of softened RO permeate enhances water resource utilization, while the compliant discharge of concentrate aligns with water conservation and environmental protection needs. This approach ensures stable boiler operation while enabling sustainable production.
