At the beginning of 2021, exciting news came from China's membrane industry: the membrane material base project (Phase I), launched by Hangzhou Haina Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd.—a council member of the Operation and Maintenance Branch of the China Membrane Industry Association—in September 2020, is set to officially commence production in June this year. The project will be operated by Zhejiang OriOSMO Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., established under the investment of Haina Environmental Technology.

Zhejiang OriOSMO Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. was established in March 2020 through investment by Hangzhou Haina Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hangzhou Hualv Membrane Technology Co., Ltd.

Since 2005, its parent company, Haina Environmental Protection, has been specializing in the R&D and manufacturing of membrane separation technology products. Its manufacturing standards and product stability have gained market recognition, earning it a high reputation both domestically and internationally. Hangzhou Haina Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. is also one of the pioneering companies with a long history in China's membrane manufacturing sector.

On the construction site of the OriOSMO Environmental Technology project in Si'an Development Zone, Changxing, workers are busy with tasks such as reinforcing bar binding and formwork installation for the office building. Meanwhile, the steel structure factory building has already been topped out, with concurrent work underway on roof and wall panel installation. The company plans to commence equipment installation, commissioning, and trial production following the holiday period.

The company has independently designed an advanced fully automated membrane production line, incorporating multiple industry-leading key technologies for industrialization. These include high-precision pre-dosing coating technology, green and efficient rinsing and drying processes, as well as integrated intelligent production with DCS remote control. This enables 7*24 continuous and stable operation, ensuring high consistency, superior product yield, and exceptional quality of the membranes. The overall product performance reaches top international standards.

Beyond membranes for municipal and industrial brackish water treatment, the company will focus on developing high-performance desalination membranes, separation membranes for material processing, and ultra-high-pressure membranes. This commitment aims to contribute to strengthening and scaling China's membrane industry.

With the completion and operational launch of the Membrane Material R&D Center and manufacturing base, Haina is now positioned to undertake targeted development of specialty membrane materials with specific properties for the Operation and Maintenance Branch. This capability enables the customization of unique membrane element varieties and models. Furthermore, it allows for the revitalization of membrane materials utilized across various membrane systems in the market, providing robust support and driving momentum for the advancement of the operation and maintenance sector.

The project occupies a site area of 51 mu (approximately 3.4 hectares). Its first phase is scheduled for completion in March this year, with commissioning set for June. Upon reaching full capacity after both phases are complete, the facility will achieve an annual production capacity of 12 million square meters of reverse osmosis and nanofiltration composite membranes, 10 million household membrane elements, and 180,000 industrial membrane elements. This output is projected to generate annual sales revenue of 560 million RMB.

"Once the first phase reaches its planned production capacity, the second phase will be launched promptly," stated Senior Engineer Fang Ming, Technical Director of Hangzhou Haina and a member of the expert panel of the Membrane Operation and Maintenance Branch. "Our goal is to build an innovation-driven enterprise focused on product R&D, aiming to achieve a leading position in China's water treatment membrane sector while establishing our brand and influence internationally."
